Revit plug-ins for drawings and repeatable model tasks

A sheet register, a set of level-based 3D views and a room elevation package need different inputs. Choose by the output you need, then check project templates, families and model scope before applying a batch.

For Revit users, BIM managers and architectural, structural or MEP teams preparing documented model outputs.

14-day trial for eligible accounts. Autodesk Revit and Navisworks are purchased separately. See trial and plans

What do you need to prepare?

Eight Revit tools share the EZ VDC Tools installer. Their task scope and prerequisites remain separate: drawing automation does not replace coordination review or project engineering decisions.

2

Make room and MEP coordination content readable

Add room identity to the 3D model, generate ceiling grid geometry from a usable model pattern, or review supported MEP crossings and opening changes. Each addresses a different coordination input.

3

Model a defined specialist scope

Prepare opening clearances or supported stud/header members, or model steel fireproofing from approved project inputs. Review element types, replacements and geometry before relying on quantities or exports.

Choose the right route for a room drawing package

Illustrative workflow: document one enclosed restroom, then decide whether the same settings suit a larger room selection. A sheet-register task follows a different route from a room-elevation task.

  1. Define the output before choosing a tool

For a list of numbered sheets from Excel/CSV, choose Sheet Creator. For a room plan plus direction elevations arranged on sheets, choose Interior Elevations; importing sheet rows alone does not create that drawing package.

Read the guide: EZ Sheet Creator
  2. Prepare one representative room

Check that the source room is placed and enclosed in the intended phase. Load the plan/elevation types, view templates and title block; choose scales, crop settings and layout margins.

Read the guide: EZ Interior Elevations
  3. Generate and inspect the first package

Select one room and inspect its plan, configured direction elevations and any split views. Leave the content-only filter off when all four directions are required. Check orientation, annotation, scale, crop and sheet fit before repeating.

Read the guide: EZ Interior Elevations
  4. Review changes before a later run

Choose the documented rerun mode deliberately and inspect the resulting sheets. If a separate 3D coordination package is needed, configure its level/scope-box views independently.

Read the guide: EZ 3D View Creator

Acceptance check: verify the requested room, drawing names, readable views, title block and sheet layout. Inspect linked references and annotations. This is an example of a review process, not a newly recorded Revit result.

Revit tools and compatibility

The years below describe the current installer scope. Check the installation options and each tool’s requirements before use.

EZ Sheet Creator

Create sheets from Excel or CSV, manage view and sheet parameters in a grid, and use separate view creation or placement workflows.

User guide

Revit 2024–2027

Load a suitable title block, validate unique sheet numbers and check writable parameters. Sheet import alone does not place views.

EZ 3D View Creator

Generate one 3D view per level or level/scope-box pair, with section offsets, naming patterns, templates and browser grouping.

User guide

Revit 2024–2027

Check levels, host scope boxes and unique names. Optional NWC export requires the matching Navisworks exporter.

EZ Interior Elevations

Create a cropped room plan and elevations in the configured directions, split long directions when needed, and organize the views on sheets.

User guide

Revit 2024–2027

Needs placed, enclosed rooms, suitable view types/templates and a title block. Review annotation references and sheet fit.

EZ 3D Room Tag

Place model-family room labels from host or linked rooms, copy chosen room parameters and update existing labels in place.

User guide

Revit 2024–2027

Uses the packaged family and the intended room phase/height reference. These model labels differ from native 2D room tags.

EZ Ceiling Grids

Build main runners, cross tees and perimeter geometry from a ceiling model pattern, with counts and lengths to review before creation.

User guide

Revit 2024–2027

Needs a measurable model surface pattern and a supported view. Output includes wall elements for flat runs and adaptive members for sloped runs/edges.

EZ Wall Penetration

Scan supported MEP crossings through walls and floors, review round or rectangular opening actions, and maintain tracked openings as the model changes.

User guide

Revit 2020–2027

Requires straight MEP centerlines, planar hosts and suitable opening families. Nested links are not traversed recursively; review flagged orphan openings.

EZ King Studs

Prepare coordination clearances or actual steel/wood members around supported openings, with host-wall filters and reviewed updates.

User guide

Revit 2024–2027

Actual members use Generic Model families and supported framing layers. They do not supply structural calculations, connections or a complete opening detail.

EZ Fireproofing

Model contour or box protection on supported steel members using project thickness rules, filters and a candidate summary; review modeled quantities.

User guide

Revit 2024–2027

Use approved project systems, ratings and thicknesses. The tool records those inputs; it does not select a tested system or determine required protection.

What changes from the manual workflow

This compares working steps. It is not a timing benchmark or a savings promise for your model.

Before you install

  • Windows with a compatible Autodesk Revit installation. The current installer supplies Revit 2024–2027 for these tools, except Wall Penetration, which includes 2020–2027.
  • A suitable project and editable scope. Check source links, phases, levels and worksharing permissions relevant to the selected operation.
  • Load the required title blocks, view types/templates or model families. Geometry and annotation tools have specific host, pattern and reference requirements listed below and in their guides.
  • Use project-approved engineering inputs. Fireproofing ratings/thicknesses and opening framing choices require the project’s design decisions; generated geometry is not design certification.

Installation and activation

  1. 1. Prepare and install

Close Revit and Navisworks. From the download page, run the EZ VDC Tools 1.2.11 installer and select the compatible applications and versions you use.

  2. 2. Create an account and activate access

Register, confirm your email and open a tool from the Revit EZ VDC tab. Sign in from the plug-in: the 14-day trial starts at that first plug-in sign-in, for eligible accounts.

  3. 3. Check the first result

Follow the tool’s guide with a small selection and inspect the result in the application. Your account and license determine which tools unlock; an active license is required after the trial.

Frequently asked questions

Which Revit add-in creates sheets from Excel?

EZ Sheet Creator imports Excel/CSV or pasted sheet rows and supports view/sheet management. The sheet-register example creates sheets from numbers and names; view creation and placement are separate workflows.

How do 3D View Creator and Interior Elevations differ?

3D View Creator produces level or level/scope-box 3D views for model review. Interior Elevations creates room-based cropped plans, direction elevations and sheet layouts. Choose the output before choosing the tool.

Which Revit versions does the installer include?

The current installer includes Revit 2024–2027 builds for the listed Revit tools, except Wall Penetration, which includes 2020–2027. Check the installer and individual tool requirements before choosing your version.

Can I use every tool on linked models?

Linked-model support depends on the tool, source elements and operation. Check the selected guide, room phases or link transforms as applicable. Wall Penetration does not recursively traverse nested links; annotation also needs usable references.

Do generated elements replace engineering approval?

No. Check the model output and use approved project inputs. King Studs does not calculate a complete structural opening detail, and Fireproofing does not select an approved tested system or determine the required protection.
