VDC Consulting
BIM Execution Plan development, VDC program setup, LOD matrix definition, and project-level VDC management. We write the standards, train the team, and own the coordination program from preconstruction through closeout.
VDC consulting transforms how your team plans, coordinates, and delivers construction projects. Rather than applying BIM as a documentation tool at the end of design, we embed VDC workflows from the earliest project stages: aligning technology, people, and process around a model-based delivery approach. At EZ-VDC, our consulting engagements begin with an honest assessment of your current state and end with a custom BIM Execution Plan, configured platform stack, and trained team ready to execute.
Current State Assessment
We audit your existing BIM processes, software stack, team capabilities, and project delivery workflows to identify gaps and quick wins.
BIM Execution Plan
We develop a project-specific BEP aligned with AIA E203/G202 or ISO 19650, defining roles, model uses, exchange formats, and review milestones.
Platform Setup & Configuration
We configure your ACC, BIM 360, or Revizto environment including project structure, role-based permissions, issue workflows, and document management.
Team Training
Role-specific workshops ensure every stakeholder (from VDC managers to trade coordinators to owner representatives) understands their responsibilities in the model-based workflow.
Ongoing Support
We provide retainer-based support during execution: attending coordination meetings, reviewing model quality, answering platform questions, and updating the BEP as project scope evolves.
What is a BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and why do we need one?
A BIM Execution Plan is the foundational governance document for a project's model-based workflows. It defines which teams produce which models, what LOD is required at each milestone, which software platforms are used and how files are exchanged, who reviews coordination deliverables and how issues are escalated, and how the model is handed over at project completion. Without a BEP, each subcontractor models to their own standard and coordination falls apart.
How is a VDC consulting engagement structured?
A typical engagement begins with a 1–2 day current-state assessment (reviewing your existing processes, software, and team), followed by BEP development (1–2 weeks), platform configuration in ACC, BIM 360, or Revizto (1 week), and role-specific team training (2–5 workshops). We then offer retainer-based support during project execution: attending coordination meetings, reviewing model quality, and updating the BEP as scope evolves.
Do you replace our existing BIM or VDC team?
No. We work alongside and augment your existing team. Most engagements are structured to transfer knowledge — we establish the processes and train your team to execute them. On projects where you need additional coordination capacity, we can take on direct responsibilities, but the default is to make your team more capable, not dependent on us.
What BIM standards do you align BEPs to?
We align BEPs with AIA E203/G202 for US projects, ISO 19650 for international or owner-mandated standards, and COBie for facility management handover requirements. On projects with specific owner standards (federal agencies, healthcare systems, transit authorities), we adapt to the applicable framework. If no standard is mandated, we recommend a simplified AIA E203 baseline.
What is a realistic ROI for VDC consulting?
On a $50M+ project, a well-executed VDC program typically returns 3–5x its cost through reduced RFIs, fewer change orders, faster owner approvals, and avoided field rework. Platform configuration and training alone typically saves teams 5–10 hours per person per week in information management overhead. Most engagements pay for themselves within the first month of active coordination.
