Academic Medical Center

Scan to BIMBIM Coordination
The Challenge

This academic medical center required a comprehensive Scan-to-BIM program to document existing conditions for renovation planning. Legacy drawings were insufficient the as-built reality deviated significantly from original documents and construction teams needed accurate spatial data before committing to renovation scopes.

Our Approach

We led the full Scan-to-BIM process: field scanning with point cloud registration, Revit model development from point cloud data, QA/QC comparison of model geometry versus scan data (deviation analysis), and coordination of BIM model handoff to the construction and design teams.

Outcome

Accurate as-built Revit model with full QA/QC deviation reports, enabling renovation teams to plan with confidence. Model used as base for renovation design coordination and shop drawing production.

Key Highlights
QA/QC deviation analysis: model vs. point cloud at sub-inch tolerance
Revit model developed from raw point cloud no legacy drawing dependency
Handoff model used directly for renovation design coordination
Clash view creation and coordination points for design-BIM interface
